Advantages of Taking Cayenne Pepper Supplements

Recently, we received a question about Cayenne Pepper supplements. Cayenne pepper belongs to the Capsicum family, which includes bell peppers red peppers bell peppers pimento and paprika. Capsicum is a spice that adds colour, heat, and aroma to food. Capsaicinoids are responsible for the level of heat (pungency) in peppers. Red peppers and chilli peppers have higher levels of capsaicinoids, while paprika is lower. Spanish paprika is made through the use of pimentos. It has very little heat. Colouring is the primary reason for its use. The composition of Cayenne pepper includes dried red and hot chilli peppers.

Consuming foods with higher amounts of hot peppers causes a chemical messenger called “substance P”. This messenger in an artificial manner is released. Substance P is responsible for transmitting pain messages in nerve cells. The nervous system receives this article release. It is what causes the burning sensation in the mouth due to heat. People who consume a lot of hot and spicy food over time will experience a decrease in the amount of substance P in their mouths. This is why people who regularly eat hot foods develop a tolerance to heat.

Capsicum or Cayenne Pepper Skin Cream

The skin can have these creams topically applied. This allows frequent pepper-eaters to tolerate heat. They can tolerate better than people who only eat hotter foods. These creams can cause the same sensations we feel when we eat peppers or prepare hot peppers for cooking. They can cause pain, especially if they touch any mucous membranes or open cuts. Clinical evidence is strong that Capsicum cream or plaster topically applied to the lower back can reduce pain. Capsicum plasters can be in combination with acupuncture as per research. This method is to relieve nausea and vomiting after surgery. In addition, FDA approves certain topical preparations containing active capsicum constituents capsaicin.

Side Effects

Cayenne pepper supplements are worth considering. Capsicum and cayenne pepper supplements can cause irritation to the stomach, mouth, and throat, and may also damage taste buds, reducing our ability to taste food fully. These supplements can also cause gas, flatulence, indigestion, or diarrhoea. They may also worsen existing ulcers. Oral Capsicum supplements for many conditions is often recommended. The conditions include weight loss, sore throats, gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes and skin conditions. The science behind Capsicum’s use in these areas is still lacking. Supplements with Capsicum may also have an impact on blood-thinners and antidepressants as well as insulin levels and blood pressure. Some people may be allergic to bell peppers, peppers, paprika, or other peppers.

In conclusion, we can say that we’ll still enjoy peppers and cayenne peppers in our meals, but we might be reluctant to take Capsicum supplements.
